All NYC Public Schools will BE CLOSED on Monday, February 23, 2026

Given the severity of the storm forecast and the state of emergency issued by the Governor, all NYC Public Schools will BE CLOSED on Monday, February 23, 2026. There will NOT be remote instruction on this day.

Note that 13 buildings will be open as warming centers only, additional information on warming centers is shown below.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Blizzard Warning through Monday, February 23, 2026.

Snow is anticipated to arrive on Sunday, February 22 through Monday, February 23.

Families will be notified when schools are reopening via regular communication channels. Check https://on.nyc.gov/2UcUI6m for the latest information on school reopening plans.

13 NYCPS buildings are currently open as warming centers through Monday, February 23, including:

The Bronx: DeWitt Clinton High School, Gompers Campus, and Stevenson Campus.

Brooklyn: Midwood High School and Urban Assembly for Law and Justice

Manhattan: George Washington High School, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School, and Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics.

Queens: Far Rockaway High School, High School for Community Leadership, and Long Island City High School.

Staten Island: Curtis High School and New Dorp High School.

All after-school activities, Public Schools Athletic League (@nycpsal) activities, adult education, and YABC programs are canceled on Monday, February 23.

Family Welcome Centers will be closed on Monday, February 23 and will operate virtually.

For safety reasons, yellow bus service for charter and non-public school students will not operate on Monday, February 23.

Safety is of the utmost importance. If you must travel, use extreme caution and allow for additional travel time.
