Enrichment

S.T.E.M

As a school community, our goal is to develop and encourage exploration S.T.E.M through the development of an  innovative and supportive curriculum.  Our community strives to foster a thirst for knowledge and willingness to persevere through complex problems, in an ever-changing technological society, using all students’ diverse learning styles and abilities.

Physical Education

Physical education (PE) is an important academic subject that teaches students to be physically active, work as a team, and set fitness goals that can last a lifetime. The fitness-based skills that students learn in PE is what emerging research shows is essential to learning.

In New York State, all students must receive PE as a part of their education, including students with disabilities who may be recommended for modified, developmentally appropriate physical education, called adapted PE.

Art
Visual Art begins with the making of art.  Through exploration of media – painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, and digital media – students develop an understanding of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design to deepen their expressive and critical faculties, hone their art skills, and develop their imaginative and creative capacities.  Read more about CS4ALL here.

Science

Science is everywhere and our students are naturally curious, which makes them natural scientists. A strong science program helps them make sense of the physical world around them, it can explain the how and why things work. In our science lab, students can develop an understanding of the scientific process.

Music

Students are naturally sensitive to musical sounds that communicate feelings, emotions, and beautiful images. They love to imitate, explore, and express themselves through activities that engage every aspect of their physical, sensory, and imaginative beings. Music making that provides speaking, singing, playing, moving, and composing opportunities for young children will develop skills and understandings for many aspects of learning.

Social Emotional Learning/ S.E.L.

We define social and emotional learning (SEL) as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
